VidAI: YouTube Translation and AI Tools with a Chrome Extension
Translate YouTube titles, descriptions, hashtags and subtitles with a Chrome extension and AI tools built into YouTube Studio.
What is VidAI?
VidAI is a Chrome extension and companion web app that helps YouTube creators translate and optimize their videos.
It connects to YouTube Studio and:
- Translates your video title, description, hashtags and subtitles into 90+ languages
- Publishes those translations as official YouTube localizations
- Generates titles, descriptions, tags/keywords, chapters, hashtags and comment replies in your channel’s language
Translations use either:
- Fast API mode (via the YouTube Data API after you authorize your channel), or
- Browser mode, which automates actions inside YouTube Studio in the open tab
Your original title and description stay unchanged. VidAI only adds localizations.
Installing the VidAI Chrome extension
- Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
- Log in when prompted.
- Open YouTube Studio and either edit an existing video or upload a new one.
You will see new VidAI options inside Studio where you normally manage titles, descriptions, tags and subtitles.
Using VidAI to translate YouTube videos
VidAI focuses on translating all the key metadata that YouTube uses for discovery and localization:
- Video title
- Description
- Hashtags
- Subtitles
Once set up, you can create localizations in many languages with a click instead of copying text into separate tools.
Translating titles, descriptions and hashtags
- In YouTube Studio, open the video you want to localize.
- Make sure the original language is set correctly (for example, English) in the video’s language settings.
- Use VidAI’s translation controls to select the languages you want.
- Run the translation.
VidAI creates localized versions of your title, description and hashtags. These appear in YouTube as official localizations, while your original text remains as-is.
Translating subtitles
Subtitles are a major part of accessibility and watch time. VidAI can translate them alongside the other metadata.
- Go to the Subtitles tab for your video.
- Confirm your default subtitles track is set to the right source language.
- Use VidAI to translate that track into other languages.
You can adjust your preferred target languages in the extension settings so you are not choosing them from scratch each time.
AI tools inside YouTube Studio
Beyond translation, VidAI adds AI writing tools directly into YouTube Studio. These tools work in your channel’s main language.
You can use them to:
- Draft and refine titles based on your topic or script
- Write or expand descriptions
- Generate tags/keywords
- Suggest chapters for longer videos
- Create hashtags
- Get comment helper suggestions to speed up replies
These tools aim to save time on routine writing tasks, so you can focus on recording and editing.
